Let's face it folks....Summer is over! There is nothing we can do about and we may as well embrace it. I am just back from a great OF class at Bellahouston tonight and after a sneaky wee holiday in Spain, I could not believe how dark the evening was. I LOVE it! There is something brilliant about Winter classes. You may drag yourself there like a condemned prisoner but I guarantee you will bounce home with the energy of a child. The parks belong to us alone on these dark nights. While others cower under blankets and talk about the nights fair drawin' in, we OFers go out and meet the Winter head on.
I am pretty sure that there have been times when after a long day at work and that cup of tea, the thought of going out there is really less than inviting.....the horizontal rain drives you inside and the wind taunts you! When you feel like that, just imagine how amazing you will feel in an hour's time when you have been running around, getting more than a bit manky and having a brilliant laugh with your fellow crazies! Trust me....OF is great at any time of year but battling the elements is an amazing feeling...AND from a personal point of view.....no one can see my beer belly under all these layers.....yaldy!
Winter also brings the OF Christmas extravaganza. It is on Saturday the 15th December at Clydesdale Cricket Club on the Southside. Details will be made available as soon as possible. For anyone who has not attended this before, I can honestly say that it is not to be missed. It is without a doubt my favourite Christmas night of the year. We will have the traditional and hotly contested OF Awards Ceremony. The Committee have already been planning the presentation...and yes I am corruptible....so keep the date free and we will let you know the plans as we work them all out.
In the meantime, I am off for a shower!
Following on from our previous post about kids at OF, I am delighted to share a success story with you all. Alfie Logan is pictured having just completed his first Scottish Schools Run. Alfie managed to run the entire 3K event and it is no surprise to find that he regularly attends OF classes with Mum, Mairi. Many congratulations Alfie!! Who knows, you could be the new Tom McKean in the making....
If anyone would like their acheivements heralded on the blog then please drop some details and a picture (if possible) to Graham and we will include in future blogs.
Believe it or not we are also preparing the presentation for the Christmas night out on Saturday 15th December and I am in the process of compiling photographs representing another great year for Outside Fitness....any photos or ideas you have for the night would be appreciated as we are trying to include as many people as possible.
I also promise (in writing!) to blog more often!! :-)
